¡J.S.Bach: Cantatas Nos.56, 158, & 82
¡Thomas Quasthoff (bass-baritone)

 Description
[Machine Translation] In 2003, Kvastokhov won his second Grammy Award (Best Classical Singer) for "Schubert: Lieder arranged by the great composer" with Abbado and von Otter, and his performance of "Matthew Passion" at the 1997 Saito Kinen Festival in Japan is still talked about today. Kvastokhov's new recording of Bach's cantatas is still talked about in Japan, as well as in the U.S. and Europe, where he received his second Grammy Award (Best Classical Singer). The album includes the famous No. 82 "I am full" and three other pieces, including "Slumber, O weary eyes," which Kvastokhov himself calls "one of the finest pieces of baroque music. Backed by the Berlin Baroque Soloists, consisting of members of the Berlin Philharmonic, including principal oboist Albrecht Mayer, the Berlin Baroque Soloists are a group of musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic. The Berlin Baroque Soloists use modern instruments and baroque bows to great effect, and the music is full-toned and lively. Performed by: Rainer Kussmaul (conductor) / Berlin Baroque Soloists / RIAS Chamber Choir Recorded: January 2004 in Berlin New recording (Digital/4D Audio Recording)
